Privacy Policy
The short version: PennyBright keeps everything on your phone. There's no account, no cloud, and nowhere for your information to be sent.
Last updated 31 May 2026
Privacy here isn't a promise — it's how the app is built. Your accounts, balances, payments and forecasts live only in PennyBright's storage on this one device. There's no PennyBright server, no sign-in, and no copy kept anywhere else.
What stays on your phone
Everything you put into PennyBright — the money figures you enter, your accounts, payments, forecasts and settings — is saved in the app's own storage on your device. That information is kept private on the device and opened with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device PIN.
Because none of it is ever uploaded, nobody — not the people who made PennyBright, not anyone else — can see what you've entered. If you delete the app, that information is gone with it, so do export a copy first if you want to keep it.
What PennyBright doesn't do
- No accounts. There's nothing to sign up for and no password to create.
- No cloud. Your data isn't synced, backed up, or copied to the internet.
- No analytics or tracking. There are no usage-tracking tools, no advertising IDs, and no third-party trackers of any kind.
- No ads.
- No selling or sharing of your data. There's no data leaving the device to sell or share in the first place.
- No bank connections. Nothing links to your bank or reads your transactions — you enter the figures yourself.
- No location, contacts, photos, or microphone access for the purpose of collecting data.
When the internet is involved
PennyBright works completely offline, with one optional exception you turn on yourself:
Live exchange rates (optional)
If you choose to keep multiple currencies up to date automatically, you can add your own free API key from ExchangeRate-API.com in Settings. Only when you do that, and only when you tap to refresh, does the app reach out to that service to fetch current rates.
What gets sent is the currency code you're converting from (for example, “GBP”) and your API key — nothing about you, your accounts, or your finances. That request is handled by ExchangeRate-API.com under their terms and privacy policy. Leave this feature off and PennyBright never touches the internet at all.
If you contact support
The one time personal information reaches a person is if you choose to email support. When you write to ben@pennybright.co.uk, that message — your email address and whatever you put in it — arrives with Tiny Creatures Ltd, the company behind PennyBright.
It's used only to read and reply to you. It isn't added to any marketing list, isn't shared with anyone else, and isn't sold. If you'd like that correspondence deleted afterwards, just ask in your email.
Children
PennyBright is intended for a general audience aged 13 and over. It isn't directed at children under 13, and because it collects no personal information, none is knowingly collected from children.
How this lines up with the App Store
On PennyBright's App Store listing, the privacy section is marked “Data Not Collected.” That's accurate: the app collects no data about you, links nothing to your identity, and tracks nothing across other apps or websites.
Changes to this policy
If anything here changes, the updated policy will be posted on this page with a new date at the top. Since PennyBright's whole design is built around keeping your data on your device, any future change would be about staying clear and accurate — not about collecting more.
